There's Something About Sunday
When i was younger, i used to not look forward to Sundays. Because that spelled the end of my weekend, which also means that i have to stop procrastinating and get on with my homework before Monday comes.
But that has changed now that i work 6 days a week...Sunday is my only real off day, a day when i can wake up at 9am, instead of 7, when i can roll around a bit, pillow fight and wrestle with the boyfriend, then stroll down to our favourite cafe (hello good people of Porgie and Mr Jones!), order a skinny capp for me and a latte for him, slowly devour a neatly tucked poached egg, that resembles a ball of cloud, with the sun (the golden yellow yolk) nestled nicely within...then i'll sink my teeth into a lightly toasted and buttered fresh Sourdough toast, the crunch and crackle of the bread awaking my senses....
Once a while, i'll eavesdrop in on the conversation of the couple seated next to us, catching up on new discovery behind the death of Amy Winehouse...or, i'll un-ashamingly oggle at the chic fashionistas of the slightly elite suburbs of Camberwell and Hawthorn, or the gruffy (but sexy) looking barista with his tight fitting tee and black skinny jeans, his sex appeal elevated by the steam from the coffee machine....
Then after what seems like a scene from an erotic novel, the boyfriend and i would head down to the nearest Coles to do his weekly grocery shopping. he'll dart up and down the aisle, stopping at his track once in a while, frowning and chewing on his lower lip, thinking like a Masterchef contestant, of what to cook tonight. Sunday nights are his Masterchef showoff time, to which I happily and rather cunningly give his my utmost support, and shower him with (well-deserved) praises. As he shops, i follow closely behind, momentarily transported back in time when i used to follow Mum around while she stocks up on weekly bread, milk, vege, fruits and lollies...
Lollies...i couldn't help but sneak a glance at the row of chocolates...but would be jolted by the boyfriend's question - 'What do you feel like tonight, fatty?' 'Anything', is what i would usually reply. Then, like a pervert caught staring at a woman's butt, i'd quickly divert my gaze and fake a 'i was looking past her butt' expression. Another section where i'd be caught hovering over is the Cherries and Strawberries part, now that US cherries are back! I'd stare at them for a while, the boyfriend would notice and say,'it's too expensive fatty!' 'I know....it's ok, i'm just looking...' i'd say, like a kid who was told she couldn't get a puppy. The boyfriend would squint his eyes, and peer at me, as if to say,'Are you sure? You want it don't you?' and I'll put on a sad face, exercising the art of manipulation without even trying too hard...until he says... 'Ok...you can take one'. and i'll gleefully grab a box before he even finishes his sentence!
Then we'll walk home...and i'll help him with his laundry, or wash his car...or finish half the box of cherries...
or fall into an afternoon nap....dreaming about cherries, clouds, chocolate fountains...and hot male baristas....

sun-day
yes, it's literally a sun-day. after a week and a half long of gloomy weather, the sun is finally out on again.
i'm not at Camberwell this week because my whole body is aching from yesterday's ski trip. i can't remember the last time since i've felt this tired and sore. but it was FUN! well worth the pain and blue-blacks. i'll write more about that once the picture's been uploaded (i left the photography to the boys).
despite being very sleepy and tired, i forced myself to wake at 9.30am. didn't really have much appetite but felt that i needed a lot fibre (ehem, so you know what i mean). hence i had a banana smoothie. easy. frozen banana, 1 cup soymilk, 1 cup yoghurt, some honey, pinch of cinnamon, some flaxseeds, give them a good blend and voila!
i did some house chores then headed to Lygon Street (Melbourne's Lt Italy) to get some bread from Baker's Delight. i managed to buy a blackberry and raspberry marmalade from the local fine food grocer and a skinny capp from the French patisserie at the end of Lygon. made a mental note to myself to go back again one day, this time i'll take photos of it too.
then i headed to the city,or rather my head dragged my body to the city because my body wants to recuperate on bed all day, but my head knows that i need to get some stuff done. i cannot cannot resist walking into Tokuya everytime i'm in the city. then i cannot cannot resist buying something to add to my pantry. i don't know what the moral of the story is but a. i do think i deserve a VIP card from them b. i realised i am behaving more and more like my mum, God Bless her soul. like her, i noticed myself more willing to spend on pretty japanese dishware and kitchen utensils than on a lipgloss. sigh. i don't know if that's a good thing but i shall find a balance.
