litlle italy

the thin yellow strips are not cheese but strips of potatoes!

farewell dinner for ana at d.o.c carlton.this place has absolutely the best pizza ever. i've always thought they had a cow back in their kitchen jus constantly producing cheese for them. if you ever come to melbourne, please remind me to take you this place, it's a little pricey but it's worth your every penny i promise.

pulau rawa

i dedicate this song to you and your island.

i found out yesterday that a friend of dad's had passed away. five years ago. and dad had not known until now.

reading the outdated orbituary, i could not help but feel sad though this 'uncle' now lives in a distant memory of my childhood.

i'd like to think that the fabric of my childhood is made up of Tengku Alang and his virgin island. the sea breeze that ruffled my hair, the salt on my wind-chapped lips, the unadultered sand that felt like flour in my small hands. my first crush, my first boat ride. the best hand squeezed lemonade i've ever tasted!

and now he has passed on and we had to find out five years later.

you can take away two lessons from this story. the first is the cliched one where life is fragile, so we must live life like there's no tomorrow.

the other is this: some people may have already been dead by the time you find out.

and nothing you do will ever bring them back.

pending

when i took this photo, dad chuckled and said, 'bird also want to take -ah?'

I put forth the question, then waited.

Silence.

Silence.              ...                   silence.

When you're nearing mid-twenties you realise you don't have really much time left to wait. The honest answer to the question of whether they have a shot of being together in future is no.

No more maybe, no buts nor ifs. Cut your losses quick. There is no glory in slow deaths.
Its beauty only superficial.

I put the question out there and then waited.

But my mind had wandered off to somewhere far away...
