秒速5センチメートル

Makoto Shinkai's 5 Centimeters Per Second is a beautiful piece that encapsulates the strong perfectionism and eye for details in Japanese animations. Broken down into three chapters, this feature length animation discusses about teenage love-lorn themes such as separation, unrequited love, helplessness and loneliness. Yes, there is nothing to shout out about the plot. But 5 Centimeters Per Second should be taken for it's artistic beauty and intelligent arrangement and delivery. Each scene is meticulously thought and drawn out as the characters move between time, place, seasons and emotional growth. But beware, it's subtlety and quietness does have a lasting impact as you may feel heavy-hearted at the end of the film.
